What My Adoption Means

The effectiveness of my ministry is directly impacted by the ongoing formation and leadership development I receive from my community. Adopting me or any other Companions’ priest ensures that we can be priests who are thriving and not simply surviving.

My Story

Ever since I became a Christian I had a strong desire to spread the Gospel. I desired to be a missionary or a minister/pastor (since I was a Protestant at the time). I didn’t think that I would be satisfied working in the field I was studying for (although engineering or a teaching are noble professions). When I decided to become Catholic, I realized that priesthood was an option. I had met two of the Companions of the Cross priests at the York University Chaplaincy and was inspired by their relationship with the Lord. I also appreciated their zeal for evangelism and desire for salvation of souls. I grew to appreciate their openness to the workings of the Holy Spirit. I received some strong affirmations for choosing this path while praying in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament and praying to our Blessed Mother. Soon after I was confirmed I started talking to the vocations director who said that I’d have too wait a couple of years.

“God’s timing is perfect. Two years later, here I am.”
