Fr. Jerry Gauvreau, CC

About Me
My name is Fr. Jerry Gauvreau, CC.
When did you join the community?

June 9, 2001

What My Adoption Means

The effectiveness of my ministry is directly impacted by the ongoing formation and leadership development I receive from my community. Adopting me or any other Companions’ priest ensures that we can be priests who are thriving and not simply surviving.

My Story

What was your background before you joined the CC?
Prior to joining the CC’s I was working as a plumber which involved renovations, service and repair work and new home construction. I moved to Ottawa in the early 90’s because Ontario was in the midst of a recession and there were more opportunities for plumbing jobs in the city. When there were no plumbing jobs available I found work with various landscaping companies throughout the city.

What led you to join this community?
At this time, my faith really came alive for me and I also started to work part time in the maintenance department at a church where the Companions of the Cross were pastoring. It was during this time in my life, that I actually started to think about becoming a priest. Over a period of time and prayer I also read Fr. Bob Bedard’s book, We are called Companions of the Cross. I followed this up by actually meeting with Fr. Bob a couple of times to discuss with him what the Lord was doing in my life and the possibility of the Lord calling me to the priesthood.

What kind of ministry are you doing now?
I was ordained in the spring of 2001 and serve in the Archdiocese of Ottawa.
