My Story

During my 2nd year of university, I found myself having achieved many of my academic goals, and yet feeling more lost and empty than ever. Until then, I was convinced that the purpose of my life was to attained worldly success. But in a moment of clarity, I knew that as long as I pursued my own plans for my life instead of God’s plans for my life, I will always have the same empty feeling.

That is when I started to take discernment of God’s will for my life seriously. I prayed Fr. Bob Bedard’s “Dangerous Prayer”. I said to the Lord, “I give you permission to do whatever you want to with my life”. From that moment on, the Lord started to guide me and open doors for me.

First, the Lord gave me a job at my parish as a pastoral assistant and sacristan. It allowed me to be closely involved in my local church and to come to see what a good, holy priest looks like. Then the Lord gave me the opportunity to be involved in praise and worship ministries in prayer groups and grow in the Charismatic aspect of my spiritual life.

When I started to sense a call to the priesthood, I was drawn to the Companions from the beginning. The Companion priests’ docility to the Holy Spirit and their zeal for evangelization through their parish lives and ministries were unmistakable. They also personified many of the qualities I thought a good, holy priest should have.

Once I had done a come-and-see retreat at one of their formation houses, I felt a profound peace continuing my discernment of the priesthood and the Companions. That led me to becoming a Companions seminarian in August 2020.
